Affordable holidays at home in the UK

Trying to plan your summer holidays but feeling the pinch in the current economic crisis?  Fear not!  There are so many homegrown travel options available to you.

Instead of travelling abroad with all the stress and expense involved, take a look at what is available to you closer to home.

Camping is always a great option.  You can pack up your tent, sleeping bag and all the trimmings and head off into the wild blue yonder.  However, you may, like the writer, prefer a more comfortable and luxurious camping style. 

How about heading down to lovely Devon and staying in caravan parks, all set up with accommodation ready for you to move in, and make yourself at home.  You get a choice too, not just holiday caravans, but also seaside chalets, cute little cottages, luxurious apartments and lodges, all at affordable prices. 

The Devon coast is a great destination with sandy beaches, quaint pubs and tea rooms where you can enjoy that famous Devon clotted cream on a scone or tasty piece of cake!

Other great locations in the UK include lovely Christchurch in Dorset.  Stay in style while you enjoy views over the Christchurch harbour and watch the boats in the English Channel with the Isle of Wight perched on the horizon.

Head down to Felixstowe for a beach holiday.  This lovely Victorian town is famous as the "Garden Resort of the East Coast".  As you stroll around town the gardens and parks are simply beautiful and close by in Southwold you can enjoy a really gorgeous Blue Flag beach, right at home in the UK! 

If you live closer to London, and don't want to travel too far, Clacton-on-Sea has plenty available with several nearby caravan and holiday parks on offer.  This seaside town is once again becoming fashionable as more people choose to holiday at home and has loads of attractions for you.  Near the famous pier you can find several entertainment centres and there are two theatres on offer plus an entertainment program set up for summer, including the famous Air Show.

So make plans for your holiday at home this year, you will not regret it!
